A trailer has landed for Netflix‘s Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web, the latest crime thriller series for the platform from Baby director Neeraj Pandey.

Emraan Hashmi, Amruta Khanvilkar, Nandish Singh Sandhu and Anurag Sinha all star in the series, which pits custom enforcement officers against a ruthless multi-national smuggling syndicate. Last month, a teaser and a January 14 launch date were confirmed.

The show follows Arjun Meena (Hashmi), Mitali Kamath (Khanvilkar), Ravinder Gujjar (Singh Sandhu) and Prakash Kumar (Sinha) as an uncompromising enforcement team at Mumbai International Airport who are faced with the complex machinery of international smuggling. Standing against them is notorious kingpin Bada Chaudhary (Sharad Kelkar), whose syndicate operates through layers of deceit through corridors in Saudi Arabia, Ethopia, Italy, Thailand and the UK.

This is creator Pandey’s latest series for Netflix, coming after 2022’s Khakee: The Bihar Chapter and last year’s Khakee: The Bengal Chapter. A tease for his new show dropped over Christmas, and Netflix subs won’t have long to wait now it has a January 14 launch set.

“Customs has been a world I’ve always wanted to explore,” he said. “It’s a space that operates quietly, precisely, and under constant pressure, and that rhythm really drew me in. We’re thrilled to collaborate once again with Netflix after Khakee. What we’ve created together is a very distinct crime thriller, rooted in authenticity, and we hope it lives up to the expectations of audiences who’ve always encouraged us.”

Hashmi, who starred in YFR universe cop threequel Tiger 3 and JioHotstar’s Bollywood drama Showtime, added: “The response since the teaser has been truly encouraging. Taskaree marks my first collaboration with Neeraj and this exceptionally talented ensemble, and it’s been incredibly rewarding. What stood out to me was its grounded, intelligent take on heroism – driven by quiet courage, discipline, and duty rather than loud bravado.”
