EXCLUSIVE: Angel Studios is adding five films to its 2026 slate with thriller Runner by Scott Waugh starring Owen Wilson and Alan Ritchson set for Sept. 11. It unveiled a reimagining of John Wayne’s 1947 Angel And The Badman starring Tommy Lee Jones; a Cold War-era Reagan-Gorbachev film with Jeff Daniels and Jared Harris; a biopic of chocolate baron Milton Hershey starring Finn Wittrock; and a holiday musical Drummer Boy.
The producer-distributor of aspirational and faith-based fare is now at 10 films for the year coming strong off animated theatrical hits David, The King of Kings and Kevin James-starring romantic comedy Solo Mio. Brandon Purdie, EVP and head of theatrical, is talking up the slate at Angel’s CinemaCon presentation Monday.
Previously announced films include animated Animal Farm directed by Andy Serkis with a starry voice cast, out May 1.

Young Washington, directed by Jon Erwin and starring Kelsey Grammer and Mary-Louise Parker, Ben Kingsley and William Franklyn-Miller as a young George Washington. From The Wonder Project. It marches out July 3 for the nation’s 250th anniversary.
And Zero A.D., out on Christmas, is Alejandro Monteverde’s epic biblical story of Mary’s sacrifices to save Jesus, starring Deva Cassel, Sam Worthington, Jim Caviezel and Ben Mendelsohn.
Since 2023 breakout hit Sound Of Freedom, Angel has become a mainstay of the specialty film box office. It operates with a unique audience-based model, running projects by its large and growing 2.2 million Angel Guild membership group.
