Wednesday’s third season is officially in the works with quite a few new stars joining the already stacked cast that has been established in the first two seasons.
Season 2 ended on quite some cliffhangers for certain characters with a clear lead as to where Season 3 would go for the Addams family.
For everything we know about Wednesday Season 3, read on:
When will Wednesday Season 3 come out?
Season 3 of the Tim Burton-directed and Miles Millar and Alfred Gough-created series won’t return until 2027 along with a few other tentpole Netflix series like Ginny & Georgia Season 4.
Is Season 3 of Wednesday in production?
Watch on Deadline
Yes, Season 3 has begun production in Ireland. Netflix unveiled this news at the end of February 2026.
Who will be new to Wednesday Season 3?
In November 2025, Eva Green’s casting announcement was first reported by Deadline. She will portray Wednesday’s mysterious Aunt Ophelia, who is a Raven like Wednesday and was thought to be missing. At the end of Season 2, it was revealed that Grandmama Hester Frump (Joanna Lumley) had been keeping Ophelia stored away in a basement at her house. Wednesday’s psychic connection with her aunt was prompted and strengthened while looking at her old diary and book of visions.
Next came Winona Ryder’s boarding Season 3, which marks a reteaming with Burton, whom she has worked with for Beetlejuice (1988) and the sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024) as well as several other projects. Ryder will portray Tabitha.

And, last but not least, for now anyways, are Lena Headey (Game of Thrones), Andrew McCarthy (St. Elmo’s Fire) and James Lance (Ted Lasso) as newcomers and guest stars joining Season 3.
Who else will return for Wednesday Season 3?
Joanna Lumley has been upped to a series regular, which makes sense with the story leaning more into the vein of Aunt Ophelia and what she has been up to, given she’s been cooped up at Grandmama’s house writing threatening messages on the wall.

Noah B. Taylor has departed the series, in which he played the prominent role of Bruno Yuson, the werewolf that Enid dated for a bit.
What happened in Season 2 of Wednesday?
The better question might be, what didn’t happen? Season 2 of the show was split into a Part 1 and Part 2 with a midseason cliffhanger involving Tyler in Hyde form escaping Willow Hill Penitentiary and nearly killing Wednesday in the process.
Wednesday was investigating a tip about Outcasts who were falsely declared dead and really hidden in the basement of Willow Hill for experiements. One of these patients and prisoners was Hunter’s mother, Francoise Galpin née Night (Frances O’Connor).
Thing received an intriguing backstory that connected to one of the series’ main villains, Isaac Night (Owen Painter), Francoise’s brother and Tyler’s uncle, a Davinci student who got too powerful for his own good. After one of his inventions killed him, Morticia and Gomez Addams buried him beneath the Skull Tree in the woods, and Pugsley accidentally shocked him back to life in zombie form. Pugsley named the zombie Slurp until it became apparent who he was.

Lady Gaga appeared as Rosaline Rotwood, a Nevermore professor known for her uncanny psychic abilities. She was a Raven like Wednesday. Unfortunately, Wednesday’s attempts to contact her were broken, and breaking the Raven’s gaze brought about a body swap between Wednesday and Enid in Part 2.
Enid changed into a werewolf during the full moon, knowing the risks as an Alpha werewolf, to save her friend and roommate, who had been buried alive by Isaac when she went looking for her kidnapped brother. Billie Piper’s Professor Isadora Capri pointed out to Enid that she may be an Alpha after she recognized her patterns of wolfing out outside of full moons.
Transforming during a full moon puts Enid at risk of remaining in her wolf form forever, and as of the end of Season 2, she was stuck in her furry form and forced to flee campus.

Enid and Agnes (Evie Templeton) also became friends after fighting over their friendships with Wednesday and danced to Lady Gaga’s “Dead Dance” at Nevermore’s annual fundraising gala, where Bianca was able to undo what Principal Barry Dort (Steve Buschemi) had blackmailed her to do in the first place, which was using her Siren song to coerce Grandmama into donating for a Frump building at Nevermore.

Gwendolyn Christie’s Professor Weems also reappeared as Wednesday’s new spirit guide after Goody Addams (portrayed by Jenna Ortega) moved on in Season 1.
Last but not least, with the death of Tyler’s dad, Sheriff Galpin (Jamie McShane) and mom, he needed somewhere to go, and Professor Capri suggested they go look for her dad and a group of Hydes that banded together to protect themselves since males are more susceptible to death without a master than females are.
Is the Uncle Fester spinoff staring Fred Armisen still happening?
Yes, Armisen teased that the series is still in the works after Deadline first announced the project back in 2023.
