SPOILER ALERT: The following could reveal plot points from the Season 2 finale of HBO Max‘s The Pitt.
And just like that, another season of HBO Max’s hit medical drama The Pitt has concluded, and like most fans, I’m already itching for Season 3.
The bad news is, there’s no way to get out of having to wait for the cast, crew, and creatives to cook up their magic. The good news is, the wait will hopefully not be longer than the time between seasons one and two, according to the show’s executive producer and director, John Wells.
“The writers’ room opened up last week, and they’re at the end of their second week,” confirmed Wells during a chat on March 19. “We will be back in production in June, and plan to be back on the air again the same week in January with 15 episodes next year.”

Season 1 premiered on January 9 and Season 2 on January 8.
The Season 2 finale airs tonight, and viewers will learn if Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) ends up going away on this sabbatical he’s been talking about all season. As the season progressed, it became obvious that Robby was not really planning a trip, per se. While he could have taken a trip, his end goal was focused on possibly ending his life.
He started Season 1 seemingly in a better place, but each episode featured Dr. Robby’s struggles with coping with day-to-day life, working in the emergency room of a busy hospital, and being unable to save every life.
A little teaser that I’ll get into a bit more in future stories is that after the events of Season 2, Dr. Robby still hasn’t hit rock bottom.
